What is a naming ceremony?

A naming ceremony is a wonderful way to welcome a new child into your family and community. As with my wedding ceremonies, naming ceremonies are written and designed for your occasion and reflect the uniqueness of the special little people in your life. Free from religious context, a naming ceremony is inclusive and supportive of everyone.
A naming ceremony can take any form you like, at any venue you like. You may wish to appoint guide parents and make promises or wishes for the child’s life ahead of them.
Below are some more ideas for you might want to include alongside a beautifully written ceremony.

A glass jar filled with layered colored sand in shades of green, blue, purple, and orange, symbolizing a unity sand ceremony, placed on a table.
A rustic mug filled with a bouquet of fresh daisies and purple wildflowers, next to an open book and a closed book on a stone surface in a natural outdoor setting.

Sand blending to symbolise the joining of family members

Ribbons to represent wishes and promises
